Two charges after cancel? Separate grouped receipts from real duplicates
“Double charged” after cancel is often several Apple items grouped on one statement line, two accounts still renewing, or a pending charge that later posts—not always two separate mistakes. First confirm cancel landed (Apple: red expiration / no Cancel button; Google Play: canceled / ending), then open the official receipt view before you dispute the card (Apple Support: Cancel; Google Play Help: Cancel). On Apple, open reportaproblem.apple.com and expand the purchase date—multiple purchases can share one bank charge (Apple Support: apple.com/bill). Ask for a refund on the same biller; decisions follow Apple or Google policy and are not guaranteed (Apple refund; Google Play refund). Guidance checked 2026-10-18.
Screenshot both statement lines and both store receipts before you contact anyone. A true duplicate and a grouped multi-item charge need different fixes.
Who bills you
| Who bills you | Where to cancel | Official help |
|---|---|---|
| Apple (APPLE.COM/BILL) | Report a Problem → expand date (grouped items?) → confirm Subscriptions expired → Request a refund if needed | apple.com/bill; Cancel; Refund |
| Google Play (GOOGLE on statement) | Order history on each Google Account → confirm Cancel → refund self-help (developer after 48 hours) | Cancel; Fix problems; Request a refund |
| Merchant + store both billing | Cancel on every platform that still shows Renews; each biller needs its own cancel | Apple: not billed through Apple |
Separate duplicates from normal billing, then request help
Prove whether it is really two charges
- Compare dates, amounts, and descriptors on the bank statement.
- Apple: at reportaproblem.apple.com, open the purchase date—several apps or subscriptions may sit under one APPLE.COM/BILL total (Apple Support).
- Google: check Order history on every Google Account at play.google.com / pay.google.com (Google Play Help).
Confirm every renewing plan is actually canceled
- Apple: Settings → Subscriptions → each plan shows expiration / no Cancel button (Apple Support).
- Google Play: Subscriptions shows canceled or ending; switch accounts if a second plan still says it renews (Google Play Help).
- If you also pay the company on the web, cancel there too—store cancel does not stop a merchant bill (Apple Support).
Request a refund on the same biller (no guarantee)
- Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com → I'd like to → Request a refund → wait 24–48 hours for an update (Apple Support).
- Google Play: use the official Request a refund flow; after 48 hours Google Play Help says to contact the developer.
- Merchant charges: contact that company’s support with both dates and amounts.
- Card disputes: ask your issuer only after you have store/merchant reference numbers—policies vary; we do not promise outcomes.
How to confirm it worked
You're done when:
- You know whether the statement shows grouped items, two accounts, or a likely duplicate.
- Every matching subscription shows it will not renew.
- Any refund request is filed with the biller that took the money (outcome not guaranteed).

Common problems
- Grouped Apple receipt mistaken for a double charge. Expand the purchase date (Apple Support).
- Pending then posted. Apple Support: wait for the email receipt before requesting a refund (Apple Support).
- Second Google or Apple Account still renewing. Switch accounts and cancel both (Google Play Help).
- Store canceled but website still bills (or the reverse). Cancel on each biller (HT118126).
- Expecting an automatic refund. Official flows decide case by case; nothing here promises money back.
- Access until period end. Keeping access after cancel is normal on many plans and is not a second charge by itself (Google Play Help: cancel).

How this differs from “still charged after cancel”
Use still charged after cancel when one renewal continues. Use this page when you see two similar debits, a doubled amount, or overlapping Apple-plus-merchant bills after you canceled.
