In the US (as of 2026-10-18), Medium Membership is commonly $5/month or $50/year (promos may show a lower first year — Confirm), with Friend of Medium about $15/month or $150/year. Cancel in Settings → Membership and payment → Cancel your membership (Medium Help).
Unfollowing writers does not cancel Membership.

How to cancel Medium
Web Membership
- Sign in on medium.com.
- Open Settings → Membership and payment.
- Choose Cancel your membership and confirm.
- Access lasts through the paid period.
If Apple bills you
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Medium.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial), then confirm.
If Google Play bills you
- Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile icon (top right).
- Tap Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Select Medium.
- Tap Cancel subscription, pick a reason and confirm.
How to confirm it worked
You're done when:
- Membership shows canceled where you were billed.
- No new Medium charge posts after that.
